Learning
Students have one chance to achieve their potential and gain the results they are capable of. We ensure our students make the most of that chance and that they receive a range of exciting learning experiences. Our students are academically and emotionally prepared for their future by being challenged to think for themselves, to take part in decisions about the Academy and by being motivated to do the best they can.
Our students are encouraged to recognise their achievements and explore how they can build on them so that they make excellent progress. We celebrate student successes and ask that they learn from mistakes. We develop our students’ skills in teamwork, independence and leadership – the skills that will ensure they grow in confidence and are prepared for successful future careers. We see each student as an individual and seek to give them an education that best suits their abilities and interests.
Bedford Academy students benefit from more teaching time both in the longer Academy week and because each lesson is 2 hours; we believe that increasing the length of lessons increases the amount of learning time available for our students.

We also believe that lessons should be planned to take account of each individual student’s prior learning, ability and skills. Lessons should be interesting and varied and students should be active in their learning.
