ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
The Academy is organised into 5 Learning Villages based upon the following combinations of subjects:
· Communications (English & World Languages)
· Maths & Business (includes ICT)
· Humanities
· Science & Technology (Our Specialisms)
· Arts & Sport
Each student will be assigned to a Learning Village as they enter the Academy and this will form their pastoral base for their time with us. Students will be organised in vertical tutor groups with students from all years, this will enable peer mentoring, easy integration into the Academy and will reduce bullying.
Students will move between the Learning Villages for their lessons to ensure they get the specialist teaching they need.
For most students all their pastoral and mentoring support will be provided by the staff in their Learning Village, however, there will be times when students require additional support. This support will be provided by Access through which students will have SEN support, language development, behaviour support, counselling or alternative curriculum provision.
In the 6th form, students remain part of the Learning Village structure for their pastoral support needs. As older students, they have a separate 6th form area which can be used as a social space and for independent learning. Students move around the Academy to attend lessons in the appropriate Learning Village depending on the subjects chosen.
