About Us

Organisation Structure

The Academy is organised into five Learning Villages based upon the following combinations of subjects:

  • Arts and Sport
  • Communications
  • Maths and Business
  • Humanities
  • Science and Technology (our Specialism)

Each student is assigned to a Learning Village as they enter the Academy, which forms their pastoral base for their time with us, and a vertical tutor group that contains students from each year group to enable peer mentoring, easy integration into the Academy and the elimination of bullying.

Students move between the Learning Villages for their lessons to ensure that they get the specialist teaching they need.

For most students, all pastoral and mentoring support is provided by the staff in their Learning Village. However, there will be times when students require additional support; this support will be provided by the Access department through which students will have SEN, language development and behaviour support, counselling or alternative curriculum provision.

In the 6th form, students remain part of the Learning Village structure for their pastoral support needs. As older students, they have a separate 6th form area which can be used as a social space and for independent learning. Students move around the Academy to attend lessons in the appropriate Learning Village depending on the subjects chosen.
