Year 9 students can come and speak to a mentor and get advice on their problems.
We meet with the mentors every Monday and Friday. During this time we check progress and we also monitor mentor behaviour. Mentors are required to set a positive example to others. Mentors are rewarded for good behaviour and for their attendance at duties. We are extremely proud of how the mentors have worked during this term. They have been very professional, always reliable and have displayed high levels of maturity.
The mentors also will play a key role during Anti-Bullying Week, week commencing 14th November 2011.
They will be responsible for helping to run a number of activities.
We will begin recruitment for some new mentors shortly. Year 10 students will be encouraged to apply and complete an application form. The new mentors will then be announced in forthcoming Village assemblies. If you are a parent of a Year 9 student and would like to refer your child for mentoring then please speak with Miss Baines, who will talk to you about any problem you child is experiencing. She will then make a referral for mentoring if she thinks this will help your child.
Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to all of the mentors for all their hard work and efforts this term. It is a pleasure to work with them.
Mrs Herbert, Student and Family Learning Coach.
Ms Khinda, Art & SportsTutor and SEN Teaching Assistant.
