I am delighted to be able to welcome your child to Bedford Academy from September 2012 and I am writing to provide you with some key information.
As you may have heard, we have already made big changes this year bringing about good quality teaching and learning and resulting in impressive progress of our students; this was proven in the November Entry GCSE results where several of our students gained A-grades.
Moving to the Academy is a fresh start for all concerned but it is important that all the hard work completed in Middle Schools is not lost. Therefore, as part of our Student Induction Plan, Mr Philippou (Lead Teacher for Transition) or a member of the Academy team will be visiting all the Feeder Middle Schools in the spring term few to discuss all our new students on an individual basis. This is particularly helpful to identify any specific areas of strength or difficulty a student may have. Our Director of Access (SENCO), Mrs McCrossan, and Transition team are working to ensure that we have as much information as possible on students with specific needs.
Our Transition Day for all the year 8 into year 9 transition students is fixed for Thursday 12th July 2012. Students will be asked to arrive at the academy site for a 9am start in their full Middle School uniform. Further details will be available nearer the time.
Another date for your diary is the New Intake Parents’ Evening on Thursday 12th July 2012 at 6.30pm (refreshments will available from 6.15pm) in the Bunyan Centre. At this evening, you will receive your Parent Pack and a copy of the Home – Academy agreement.
Please visit our Uniform section for further information about our uniform and a list of essential equipment that your child will need for September.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Bedford Academy for your child’s next phase of education; I look forward to meeting you in person on July 12th 2012.
