How many lessons do I have each day?
Students have three one hour and fifty five minute lessons a day; this means that you actually learn more in a year than most other schools. Click here to find out more about our curriculum.
What do we study in Year 9?
In year 9 you will study a core of Maths, English, Science, ICT, Physical Education and Citizenship. You will also study a varied selection of Humanities (including History, Geography and Religious Studies), Expressive Arts (including Art, Music, Media and Drama), Design Technology (including Textiles, Food, Graphics and Resistant Materials) and French.
What is Enrichment?
This is your chance to try something a little different! There is a planned programme of activities that take place each day during the optional early morning (7.30 – 8.30am) and after school (3.35pm onwards) sessions, which every student attends at least one of a week. Enrichment choices are available on a timetable in each tutor room. If you would like to know more click here
What is Vertical Tutoring?
You may currently be in a tutor group made up entirely of people your own age. In a vertical tutor group, you will be with people from all year groups from Year 9 through to Year 13. This means that the older students can offer advice and support on all sorts of issues.
What is Peer Mentoring?
When you are new to a school you may have some questions or problems that you would feel more comfortable asking older students about; being in a group with such students means that there is always someone there who has been in the same position as you before. These students will support you and offer you advice on a variety of things from what enrichment course to follow to which Year 9 GCSE Option choices for Year 10 would suit you.
What is the Uniform?
Everyone in year 9, 10 and 11 have a set smart uniform to wear. If you would like to find out what you will need click on this link.
What will the teachers expect from me?
The teachers and Academy want you to be as successful as you can be. We believe that to make this possible every student should:
- Listen and follow instructions immediately;
- Arrive on time for all activities;
- Wear the correct uniform at all times;
- Be prepared for learning with the right books and equipment;
- Respect themselves, others and the environment;
- Be proud of our Academy and of each other;
- Always give their best
