12 Careers Learning Bedford Academy places significant value on ensuring our students can make informed decisions about their next steps and long-term goals. Our aim is to build employability skills, develop knowledge of careers and the labour market, explore career ideas and offer impartial guidance to students as they progress on their careers journey. Ultimately, we want our students to move on to sustained destinations not only with the skills to survive but to succeed and thrive. Students have access to a comprehensive range of careers education activities and guidance through a combination of tutorial activities, PCD lessons, career learning embedded into the curriculum, assemblies, careers events, external visits and individual guidance interviews to support their decision making whilst at school and to prepare them well for the future. Bedford Academy Sixth Form provides a range of opportunities and support to enable students to progress successfully in their future careers. Students in the Sixth Form study three Level 3 courses and these may be a mix of Academic and Vocational subjects.All Sixth Form students have a tutor and follow a core Personal and Careers Development programme. Our Sixth Form Sports & Dance academy allows students with a passion for football, basketball and dance to further develop as athletes/performers alongside their Level 3 study package.All students gain extensive careers and industry insights as part of our personalised approach to support and guidance for next steps. Sixth Form students have access to a number of enrichment and leadership opportunities throughout the year which helps them to further develop a range of skills that will help them to be successful in their next steps, whether this be university, an apprenticeship or employment.
