Our dedicated team of chefs regularly update our menus, ensuring the highest quality food is served daily in our on-site restaurant. During break times, all students can enjoy a free breakfast that includes cereal, fruit, toast, and porridge. We also offer a variety of nutritious snacks available for purchase at break, alongside appetising and satisfying lunch options. Our menus are carefully designed to meet the Department for Education’s nutritional standards, encouraging students to make healthy food choices. Reflecting a wide range of tastes and cultural influences, our menu includes a balanced selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we limit red meat options to just one main dish every three weeks. Where applicable, all our chicken, turkey, beef, and lamb are Halal certified. We also cater for dietary needs and allergies—our menus are nut-free, and we proudly offer gluten-free alternatives to popular items like pasta, pizza, and sandwiches. Students are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home, which they can enjoy in the restaurant or on outdoor benches. We kindly ask that packed lunches avoid products containing nuts, where possible. Our newly refurbished, bistro-style restaurant and coffee shop offer a modern, welcoming space in the heart of the school’s main atrium. It’s a great place for students to enjoy meals and socialise. Lunchtimes are staggered to reduce queues, and in warmer months, students can dine outside in our designated al fresco area. The Academy uses a cashless payment system for catering. Each student is issued a unique PIN and account, which can be topped up online via ParentPay or with cash at our in-school cash top-up machines. For added convenience, chip and pin payment is also available. If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, please contact the Bedford Borough Council Education Welfare Service to request an application form or apply online at www.bedford.gov.uk.
