I joined Bedford Academy in 2011 as Director of Access (SENCO). I have a background in SEN and my years overseeing Access in addition to the wider responsibilities I have held here have shaped my passion for seeing the students at Bedford Academy achieve their potential regardless of what challenges they may face. In Jan 2019 I joined the Senior Leadership team and I am now the Designated Safeguarding Lead overseeing safeguarding across the Academy.
I am passionate about helping our students to overcome their barriers to learning and grow in self confidence in order to lead rewarding and successful lives. My personal experience of both visual and hearing disabilities enables me to demonstrate to students that with the right attitude and determination, anything is possible.
In my home life, I continue to live out this ethos by setting myself challenges and goals, such as the Moonwalk in Edinburgh, the London Marathon and the London Marathon Thames walk. I also love to bake and take long walks in the countryside.
