Bedford Academy Careers Team

Bedford Academy has developed an award-winning careers programme over the last six years which meets both The Quality in Careers standard and all eight Gatsby Benchmarks of good careers guidance. Our aim is to develop student employability skills, resilience and career management skills and inform about local, national and international labour market information, guide students to explore and develop career ideas and high aspirations, educate students on the complete spectrum of post 16 and post 18 pathways and prepare them for successful post 16 or post 18 transitions. In addition to this we follow up and where necessary offer further support to students after they leave us.

Data Sharing Agreement with University of Bedfordshire

Bedford Academy's Data Sharing Agreement with University of Bedfordshire is as follows;

The University of Bedfordshire and Uni Connect have a data sharing policy with Bedford Academy. The University of Bedfordshire is working to raise aspirations and application rates to Higher Education in students identified by OfS (Office for Students – HE regulator within the DfE) from targeted areas in the county where progression into higher education is lower than expected. The purpose of this program is to provide students from these targeted areas with a range of opportunities which will develop their motivation, knowledge and resilience to consider applying for higher education courses.

The data that may be held for the young person in their school name, 1st name, surname, DOB, postcode, ethnicity, disability, and gender. This information sharing agreement will be reviewed annually every July by the University of Bedfordshire to ensure that it is still legally compliant. Data may remain on systems supporting this programme until the end of the academic year in which the student has reached their 30th birthday. Or if they enter Higher education within this time, until 15 years after they graduate.
